A accident occurred on Monday around 01:10 AM at Camp Street, Georgetown, resulting in the death of an unidentified motorcyclist. The collision took place at the intersection of North Road and Camp Street, involving motorcar PNN 7200, driven by Abayomi Hart, a 39-year-old from Herstelling, East Bank Demerara.
Reports suggest that the motorcyclist was traveling westward along North Road at a high speed and failed to stop at the intersection, where a red traffic light was flashing in his direction. This led to a collision with the left front of the car, which was heading south on the eastern drive lane of Camp Street.
The impact flung the motorcyclist a considerable distance, causing injuries to his head and body. A police patrol found him in an unconscious state and rushed him to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Emergency Unit, where he sadly passed away during medical treatment.
The body is currently at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Mortuary awaiting identification. The car’s driver is in police custody, cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
