Dear Editor,
Allow me to offer a comprehensive response to the slanderous, maliciously false, and spurious attempts by the ’embattled’ former Executive Member of the Guyana Cricket Board, Anand Sanasie. Mr. Sanasie has publicly sought to sully my good name and character in an effort to berate the recently concluded ‘Washington Conference on Guyana,’ organized by the Guyanese Diaspora. His attempts are masked as a ‘personal axe to grind’ with local businessman Mr. Dorwain Bess over an old business dispute.
In a blatant attempt to tarnish my character and the integrity of the recently concluded ‘Washington Conference on Guyana,’ Mr. Sanasie embarked on a malicious campaign, masquerading his personal vendetta against local businessman Mr. Dorwain Bess as a noble pursuit of justice.
Let us delve into the intricate details of this matter, for the sake of clarity and transparency.
Firstly, it is imperative to underscore the psychological projection phenomenon that seems to be at play here. Mr. Sanasie appears to be projecting his own frustrations onto others, using a vitriolic tirade against me, Mr. Bess, and the entire Guyanese Diaspora as a smoke screen for his own inadequacies.
Mr. Sanasie’s allegations, particularly his assertion that I cited Mr. Bess as an example of racial discrimination at the ‘Washington Conference on Guyana,’ are blatantly false. In fact, it was Conference Delegate Attorney-at-Law Dawn Cush-Holder who initially broached the topic of ethnic-economic discrimination. Mr. Sanasie conveniently omits this fact to fit his distorted narrative.
To add context, Mr. Sanasie personally reached out to me via Whatsapp the morning after my conference presentation, stating, “The last thing you should have done is to use Bess as an example; I would respond.” This interaction, captured in a screengrab, provides a clear record of his intentions.
Furthermore, Mr. Sanasie’s letter to The Guyana Times, subsequently published in the State-owned Guyana Chronicle, is replete with calumnious, character-damaging, and maligning untruths aimed at Mr. Bess. If these false statements are not retracted and a prominent apology issued immediately, legal action will be taken against Mr. Sanasie and any media outlets complicit in peddling these malicious falsehoods.
The People’s Progressive Party (PPP), through Mr. Sanasie’s “projected psychological” mindset, has reached new lows. They have resorted to amplifying a typographical error in an independent media article to engage in a confrontational and unproductive exchange of ideas or actions. Mr. Sanasie insinuates nefarious intentions behind this seemingly innocuous mistake, all in a futile attempt to besmirch a successful Diaspora Conference.
Let’s set the record straight regarding SBF International Inc. I was a Minority Director and Company Secretary in January 2016, but by 2018, I had ceased involvement and returned my shares. Mr. Sanasie’s attempt to blame the company’s collapse on greed rather than political factors is utterly unfounded. Meticulously maintained records, both physical and digital, debunk his allegations and lay bare the inaccuracies in his narrative.
Mr. Sanasie alleges that resolutions were passed in his absence to bypass bank instructions, resulting in the freezing and cancellation of accounts. Contrary to these claims, well-documented records substantiate the fallacy of his allegations. These records unequivocally debunk his assertions and expose the inaccuracies in his narrative.
In a bizarre twist, Mr. Sanasie suggests that I, along with others, orchestrated a hostile takeover of SBF International Inc. Yet, it was Mr. Sanasie who demanded Mr. Bess sign over 85% of the company’s shares, citing a change in government as his motivation. He presented me with a document purporting to be a Resolution of the Board of Directors, intending to transfer my shares to him. I refused to sign, and this refusal appears to be a source of his continued malice.
Regarding the cancellation of SBF International Inc.’s fuel license, there are complex legal matters at play, including allegations of a forged lease signature. Mr. Sanasie was intricately involved in these events as the de-facto financial comptroller.
It is worth noting that Mr. Sanasie’s reference to Mr. Bess’s child’s mother, who served as a director in a separate company unrelated to me, is an attempt to exploit personal grievances for political purposes. This manipulation is evident in Mr. Sanasie’s malicious public attack against myself and Mr. Bess, designed to undermine the APNU+AFC’s involvement in a Diaspora Conference.
The ‘Washington Conference on Guyana’ was organized by the Guyana Caribbean Institute for Democracy (CGID), a Diaspora organization. The APNU+AFC participated to engage in constructive dialogue and provide updates on the situation in Guyana.
Mr. Sanasie’s allegations, which lack credibility and factual basis, are a diversion from the real issues facing our nation. We must focus on unity and fairness to build a united Guyana where equal opportunities are accessible to all, regardless of background or appearance.
I am prepared to provide evidence and cooperate with any investigation to set the record straight. Mr. Sanasie’s attempts to divert attention from the genuine concerns raised at the ‘Washington Conference on Guyana’ are transparent and unwarranted.
In conclusion, let us not be misled by Mr. Sanasie’s baseless allegations and political posturing. Guyana deserves honest and transparent leadership, and I am committed to upholding these values. I Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
Respectfully,
Senior Counsel (SC) Roysdale Forde,
APNU/AFC Member of Parliament (MP),
Shadow Minister for Legal Affairs.
