Opposition Leader of Guyana, Aubrey Norton is accusing the government of prioritizing Venezuelan migrants in a bid to bolster its support base ahead of the 2025 elections. Norton expressed concerns during a press briefing today over what he believes is preferential treatment for Venezuelan migrants while discriminating against Haitians and Nigerians.
Norton alleged, “It is evident that the PPP discriminates against Haitians. Very early in this period, the government removed that and banned – virtually – Haitians from coming here, whilst allowing others to come. I am told that when you go to some of the hospitals right now, you can’t even understand the people talking.”
While acknowledging the pressure on Guyana and other Caribbean nations in accommodating Venezuelan refugees fleeing the crisis in their country, Norton insisted that Guyana should take a more balanced approach. He criticized the government for going to great lengths to facilitate Venezuelan migrants, suggesting it is all geared towards securing their votes in the upcoming Regional and General Elections.
Norton claimed that the government is trying to compensate for a decline in their “traditional supporters” by naturalizing Venezuelans. He stated, “They are trying their best to now get Venezuelans and others to prop it up.”
He further argued, “And so, the issue here, again – and they don’t like when you say it – is racism! They make the assumption that Haitians will vote for us, or be supportive of us. The others (nationalities) that they are fighting for, they will be able to get their support.”
Norton also raised concerns about the government’s approach to Haitians and Nigerians, suggesting that the government is preventing them from coming to Guyana due to their African origin.
One point of contention raised by Norton was the use of the Spanish word “Policia” (Police) on Police Force vehicles, which he deemed “stupid” given Guyana’s ongoing border dispute with Venezuela. He questioned the government’s decision, saying, “If you’re trying to accommodate diversity then you gotta put French, you gotta put Portuguese, you gotta put all the languages. It is the manifestation of the incompetence of the Home Affairs Minister and the stupidity of the Police Commissioner.”
Norton compared Guyana’s approach to that of the United States, a country known for its diversity, which does not feature other languages on police vehicles. He concluded by calling the decision “stupid” and urged for its reconsideration.

Why welcome Haitians and Nigerians in Guyana? Because they they are blacks? Such a racist government!!
Norton, please, please, please ask someone to explain to you how Haiti and Nigeria received billions of dollars in aid from the “racist” Whites, yet cannot climb out the sewer in which they thrive and prefer.
Perhaps Norton’s forebears are from Nigeria. Captured in the tribal wars by other blacks and sold as slaves to the Whites. The captors likely woke up one morning and decided to attack another tribe. I think it is highly likely that Norton came from the losing tribe.
