Managing Director of Cargo Consolidators Agency (CCA), Sean Patience recently noted that his company has been seeing an increase in demand for its freight forwarding services in the Guyanese market as well as the benefits of its 3PL warehousing.
CCA is a Trinidadian freight forwarding company for the local and Guyanese hydrocarbons sectors. In an exclusive interview with The Energy Year,
Patience, provided insights into the company’s strategic initiatives and the burgeoning opportunities in Guyana’s dynamic energy sector.
The Energy Year is an oil and gas information center that provides first-hand intelligence on emerging energy markets for the general public and investors to help them make better business decisions.
While speaking to Energy Year, Patience said CCA has become a pivotal player in Guyana’s booming oil sector, collaborating with service providers for ExxonMobil and facilitating the transportation of cargo essential for drilling activities. This shift has contributed significantly to the company’s operations, with a notable increase in shipping activities within Guyana’s upstream sector.
Patience further noted that he anticipates continued growth in Guyana, emphasizing the upcoming opportunities tied to new bidders for offshore blocks and the expanding construction projects in the region. He also said the country’s energy industry’s positive ripple effect on other sectors creates a promising landscape for logistics services.
However, amidst this growth, challenges emerge. He was keen to note that Guyana faces a shortage of labour due to the rapid influx of investors and the establishment of new companies.
Patience drew parallels with Trinidad’s historical experience, highlighting the potential impact on labor availability in other sectors as the oil and gas industry attracts qualified workers with higher salaries. “When the oil and gas sector emerged in Trinidad many years ago, it offered better salaries for qualified workers, and as a result, all the other industries suffered from a lack of available labour, as workers moved to the higher-paying jobs,” he said.
Beyond the challenges, CCA remains resilient and adaptive. He shared that the company’s 3PL warehousing service, designed to meet the specific needs of clients in a scalable and cost-effective manner, has garnered attention. This service not only caters to the manufacturing sector but also finds applications in the petrochemical industry, providing secure storage for non-daily-use items.
He asserted that Cargo Consolidators Agency’s strategic positioning and adaptability underscore its commitment to navigating the complexities of Guyana’s evolving energy landscape. In addition, Patience said that as the country continues to attract investments and witness increased activity, CCA stands ready to play a crucial role in facilitating and enhancing logistics services in the region.
