In a recent Request for Proposals (RFP), Guyana Deep Water Operations Incorporated (GDO), the local subsidiary of SBM Offshore, said it is looking for companies to supply potable water quality testing services to meet its onshore and offshore needs.
GDO was keen to note that it specializes in the design, supply, installation, operation, and life extension of Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessels. As the operator of the Liza Destiny, Liza Unity, and Prosperity Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessels, GDO said it plays a pivotal role in the offshore energy industry.
The scope of the published RFP encompasses the objective of service, focusing on the provision of calibrated fuel tanks measuring tools, dip sticks, and the development of tank charts. Specifically, the proposal outlines the meticulous process involved in assessing and determining the capacity of the secondary tank, utilizing non-destructive methods such as electromagnetic induction, magnetometry, and ground-penetrating radar.
Additionally, the proposal emphasizes the necessity of a gauge stick or dip stick capable of accurately measuring the depth of liquid in the underground tank. This stick, marked to the 1/8 inch and composed of a suitable material, ensures accurate readings without fuel creeping above the actual level.
Furthermore, the RFP underlines the importance of a tank chart—a table converting liquid levels in inches to gallons. Each tank requires a tailored chart, detailing dimensions, capacity, and conversion tables, all subject to approval by the facility lead. The submission of charts in both electronic and print formats, marked with indelible ink and presented on a non-bendable medium, is a key requirement for potential vendors.
