President David Granger, who was recently diagnosed with cancer, is expected to return to Cuba on Tuesday for further medical attention.
According to Minister of State, Joseph Harmon, this is in keeping with the Head of State’s treatment plan as laid out to the government by his doctors.
At a post Cabinet briefing that was held at the Ministry of the Presidency earlier today, Harmon said that since the President returned, “he is much better than when he first left…”
Harmon said that while the workload of the President has been reduced, he is still calling all the shots. “He remains the Commander in charge of the business of the State and is still making all the key decisions…,” added the Minister of State.
During the President’s trips to Cuba, Harmon said that the Government wants to assure the nation that Granger’s vision for a green state, secured borders and the overall happiness of the citizenry, would be kept alive.
It was on November 14, last, that the Guyana Embassy in Cuba confirmed that President Granger, 73, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which is a type of cancer that develops in the lymphatic system.
