The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) is gearing up for its annual venture to the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) scheduled for May 2024 and will be embracing diverse business opportunities. This annual event, a hub for innovation and collaboration, will take place in Texas, in the United States (US), providing a dynamic platform for industries to converge and explore potential avenues.
As the anticipation builds, the GCCI noted to its member companies and local investors during a press conference this morning that its aim for the OTC 2024 is to foster partnerships beyond the conventional realms, as the conference is historically associated with the oil and gas sector.
Further adding to this point, CEO of the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest), Peter Ramsaroop charged the local business community to bring forth agricultural and renewable energy innovations, given that the OTC has now become an inclusive space for diverse sectors to thrive.
He shared insights into the transformative impact of the conference, highlighting the formation of partnerships over the years among local investors and the diaspora. “We (Go-Invest) have recorded through our office, investments, investment agreements and joint ventures—multimillion dollar investments and it has really changed the scope of some of these company’s support especially in the oil and gas industry.”
He also noted, “But we also found companies that came to that conference and are now in agriculture and in other services.”
Ramsaroop specified that companies in logistics, supply chain, and emerging sectors have capitalized on networking opportunities, leading to substantial investments.
The OTC is renowned for its global significance and offers a stage where businesses can network, collaborate, and showcase their advancements. It plays a crucial role in facilitating dialogue and initiatives that extend beyond the conference, influencing the trajectory of industries involved.
While the historical focus has been on boosting the oil and gas sector, Ramsaroop revealed that the conference now aligns with the broader vision of the Guyana’s President, Dr.Irfaan Ali, encompassing agriculture, food security, climate services, and energy.
The GCCI, as it gears up for OTC, envisions a comprehensive exploration of opportunities that transcend sectoral boundaries, contributing to Guyana’s prosperity on the global stage.
