Otto Pitman called ‘One Dan’ and Oliver Franklyn were today charged with the murder of Natram Persaud at Canal #2 Polder, West Bank Demerara (WBD) on December 31, 2023.
Persaud was at a wedding house when bandits stormed the residence, shot and killed the 40-year-old man. They also severely wounded a 57-year-old farmer, Manipaul Ramberhak.
Pitman, a 35-year-old of Lot 50 School Street, Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara, was arrested on January 3, 2024, and charged today (Monday) under Section 100 (1)(c)(i) of the Criminal Law Offences Act, Chapter 8:01.
Pitman appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Vreed-En-Hoop Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plea and was remanded to prison until February 7, 2024.
Oliver Franklyn, a 49-year-old Taxi Driver of Lot 276 Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, was arrested on January 1, 2024, and charged today under Section 100 (1)(c)(i) of the Criminal Law Offences Act Chapter 8:01 for Murder.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plea and was also remanded to prison until February 7, 2024.
The matter was transferred to the Wales Magistrate’s Court.
