The Guyana Police Force is continuing its investigation into a fatal incident which occurred on Tuesday last about 03:00hrs at Railway Embankment, Bel Air, Georgetown.
The incident involved motorcar, PZZ 9863, owned and driven at the time by Mashaun Tyrell (now deceased), a 33-year-old of Lot 82 David Street, Kitty, Georgetown.
Enquiries disclosed that tragedy struck as the car was proceeding west along the southern drive lane on the Railway Embankment, Bel Air, at a fast rate.
According to reports, Tyrell lost control of the vehicle while navigating a left bend on the road. The car subsequently ended up in a trench to the north where it turned turtle.
As a result, the driver was pinned in the car which was submerged.
Ambulance Service and Fire Service were summoned to the scene where the car was lifted out from the trench and the driver was assisted out from the vehicle, placed into an ambulance and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit.
There, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
