Bodybuilding standout, Nicholas ‘Creed’ Albert took his talents to Barbados over the weekend and used his sharp physique to slice through the fierce competition.

Albert, 22, posed and flexed to the gold medal in the up to 90kg class then returned to the stage and earned the coveted Pro Card after winning the overall bodybuilding title at this year Roger Boyce Classic.

The chiseled, aesthetic mass of striated muscle is the youngest local athlete to win a pro-card in the Caribbean and Central America region and joins Sylvon Bruce Whatley, 2018, as the only two male Guyanese bodybuilding athletes to acquire professional status in the sport.

Accomplishing a pro card enables Albert to become handsomely rewarded from the discipline as it paves the way for him to sign lucrative endorsement deals.

According to a statement from the local bodybuilding federation, Albert competed against five other athletes from Grenada, Mexico, Suriname, Barbados and Guadeloupe in the Men’s Bodybuilding Senior category (up to 90kgs) and emerged winner.
He then progressed to the overall segment against a combination of category winners and comfortably secured first place for the prized Pro Card.

Hannah Rampersaud also earned a Pro Card in the Wellness category, while IFBB Elite Pro, Rosanna Fung, placed third in the stacked Pro Wellness class.

Guyana’s other representative at the annual fixture, Julio Sinclair, placed second in his class.

Rampersaud, competing in the Women’s Wellness Senior up to 163cm, won the category and went on to the overall where she placed second and secured her pro-card. Rampersaud now joins Laura Cravalle, 1979, and Fung, 2022, as the third female Guyanese to win a pro-card and to be elevated to professional status in Fitness and Bodybuilding.

Fung, in her third professional competition since capturing pro status at CAC 2022, had to settle for the bronze in the Women’s Wellness category. This specific category was stacked with 10 other athletes from countries such as Czech Republic, Mexico, Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, and Paraguay, among others.

Sinclair, competing with three of the best heavyweight athletes in the region in the Men’s Bodybuilding Senior over 90kg class, narrowly missed out on gold medal but comfortably secured the silver medal.

The federation, in its statement, congratulated the athletes for their respective feats once again on the international stage and also thanked all sponsors, trainers, coaches and managers who would have worked with and supported the athletes.
