RIF’s International Hotel, is currently under construction in Anna Regina, Essequibo. The $600M hotel which is near completed aims to address the demand for high-quality accommodation in the area.
The construction of the hotel began in May 2023 on a piece of land leased from the Guyana Lands and Survey Commission for a duration of 99 years. The hotel is being built to meet both local and international standards, with a particular focus on promoting environmental sustainability through energy and water conservation systems. Once completed, the facility will offer 24-hour service to the public, enhancing the hospitality infrastructure of the region.

The project involves the construction and furnishing of a five-story hotel, featuring 39 self-contained guest rooms – 12 double rooms and 27 single rooms, each with adjoining patios. Additional amenities include a lobby, kitchen, storage rooms, laundry rooms, and a conference room. The hotel will also be equipped with an 800kg elevator, internal staircases, and an emergency exterior staircase.

Each guest room will be outfitted with modern amenities such as light fixtures, beds, chairs, refrigerators, stoves, cutlery, and crockery. For the exterior, the hotel will feature landscaping, outdoor amenities, parking lots, water management systems, lighting, signage, and robust security and fire control systems.

The facility will also include a conference room available for formal business meetings and religious activities, thereby catering to diverse needs. The necessary approvals for operation, including certifications from the Guyana Fire Service, planning permissions from the Central Housing and Planning Authority, and a No-Objection from the Anna Regina Town Council, have already been secured.

This site already houses three existing businesses: a gas station and spare parts shop, a clothing store, and a motorcycle sales area. The surrounding area is a mixed zone with both residential and commercial activities, including a commercial bank and hotel to the north, a storage bond to the south, an empty lot owned by the operator to the east, and a supermarket to the west.

Currently, 12 staff members are working on the project, which is being executed by an independent contractor. The construction activities encompass developing the foundation, structural framing, exterior enclosure, interior construction, electrical and plumbing installations, exterior finishes, and site amenities.

The new hotel is expected to significantly boost the tourism industry on the Essequibo Coast, attracting more visitors and providing a higher standard of accommodation. This influx is anticipated to stimulate revenue generation and create employment opportunities for various categories of workers, thereby uplifting the local economy.

Moreover, the presence of the hotel is likely to increase property values in the surrounding communities, adding further economic benefits. By providing a state-of-the-art facility, RIF’s International Hotel aims to enhance the overall appeal of the Essequibo Coast as a desirable destination for both business and leisure travelers.
