Three men are now in police custody following a drug bust in Georgetown. According to reports, Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) Officers were conducting an operation on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Vlissengen Road when they intercepted a motorcar.

A search of the vehicle revealed several brick-like parcels containing a “whitish powdery” substance, which later tested positive for cocaine. The parcels amounted to 5.672 kilogrammes (12.5lbs).

The three occupants were arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters. They have since been identified as Joel Hodge, a 44-year-old security guard of Urquhart Street, North Cummingsburg, Georgetown; Rawle Hoyte, 52, a chef of Lot 47 Sandy Babb Street, Kitty, Georgetown and Quacy Joseph, 40, a Veterinary Doctor of 5th Field Cummings Lodge, Georgetown.

Investigations are ongoing.
