Standout athlete, Aliyah Abrams finished fifth of eight starters in her Olympic 400m heat earlier this morning in Paris, France and will not progress to the semi-finals.

Abrams clocked a season’s best 51.55s in heat 5 of 6 which was won by Mariliedy Paulino of the Dominican Republic in 49.42s.

The Guyanese’s personal best is the national record, 50.20s which she ran in May last year.

The campaign for the three-time Olympian ended with the result and at 27, it could perhaps be her final moment at the quadrennial Games.

The campaigns for the nation’s other representatives in Paris, swimmers, Raekwon Noel and Aleka Persaud and table tennis player, Chelsea Edghill along with sprinter, Emanuel Archibald all ended in their first encounters.
