The Guyana Police Force disclosed moments ago that it is investigating the fatal stabbing of Laurex Henry, a 27-year-old miner from Imbaimadai. The incident occurred early this morning, Friday, August 9, 2024, at approximately 01:15 hrs at Kamarang Landing, located in Upper Mazaruni (Region Seven).
According to the police, Henry had just left a bar at Kamarang Landing in the company of his friend, Delon Dedd Jr., a 31-year-old miner. Shortly thereafter, Henry reportedly encountered a 40-year-old miner from Annai, who allegedly became offended by racial remarks made by Henry. The suspect, who was armed with a knife, then reportedly inflicted a single stab wound to Henry’s abdomen.
Henry collapsed and was immediately transported to the Kamarang District Hospital, where medical personnel attempted to treat him. However, he succumbed to his injuries while receiving care. The stab wound, located on the lower left side of his abdomen, was severe, with his intestines protruding from the site.
The suspect was quickly apprehended by police and has since admitted to the crime, stating, “I did it because he come around me funny.” The individual has been arrested and remains in custody as investigations continue.
