The Guyana Association of Private Security Organizations (GAPSO) has successfully completed a comprehensive fire prevention training programme for its members. This initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Guyana Fire Service, was designed to equip security officers with the essential knowledge and skills to protect lives and property.
The training programme , sponsored by leading GAPSO members such as Sheriff Security Services, Sentential Security Services, Blackstone Defense Group, and Castle Security Services, focused on preventing and mitigating fire risks. Security officers from member organizations, including Sheriff Security Services, Castle Services, Northwest Security, and Sentential Security, actively participated in the training.
The curriculum covered a broad spectrum of fire safety topics, including principles of fire safety, prevention measures, detection and alarm systems, suppression techniques, and emergency response protocols. Participants received both classroom instruction and hands-on demonstrations to gain a practical understanding of fire safety measures and their application in real-world situations.
GAPSO Vice-President, Mr. Paul Defreitas, highlighted the importance of this training, stating, “By empowering our security officers with the knowledge and skills to prevent and respond to fire emergencies, we are directly enhancing the safety and security of our clients’ properties and assets. This investment in our members’ professional development translates into a higher level of protection for our clients, providing them with peace of mind and reducing their risk of financial loss.”
