Indigenous gold dealing company, El Dorado Trading has secured the spot as Guyana’s top gold dealer and was recently awarded for its stellar achievement.
Last Wednesday, the Ministry of Natural Resources hosted an award ceremony at the Pegasus Hotel, Kingston. The ceremony, the ministry’s Facebook page noted, was held to honour key stakeholders in the mining sector as part of Mining Week activities, which ran from August 25th to 31st under the theme “LCDS 2030: Adapting to Change, Overcoming Vulnerability, Forging Sustainability.”
The ministry noted that the event was conceptualized as a means to recognize the outstanding contributions across various areas within the mining industry, including gold, sand, bauxite, quarry, diamonds. The contributions of goldsmiths were not ignored.
It was at that very event that El Dorado Trading received its award. The award was accepted by the company’s Head of Compliance, Priya Geer as the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Tamesh Jagmohan is in North America on business.
During a brief interview with Guyana Standard, company representatives noted that El Dorado has been an authorized gold dealer since 1999 and continues to enjoy its yearly licence after thorough examination by the Guyana Gold Board. Further, it has been noted that the company has been the top gold declarant for the last five years.
El Dorado Trading said it continues to pursue best practices in the industry and is committed to adopting necessary practices to align with Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) 2030.
