Sispro Inc., a Guyanese firm, is among 27 companies, including global giants like ExxonMobil, BP, Chevron and trading companies, that have submitted bids to market Guyana’s share of oil from the Stabroek Block.

The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) initiated the tender process, which attracted 26 international firms from countries like the United States, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

The government in a notice had said it is seeking bids for the marketing of oil from the Liza Destiny, Liza Unity, and Payara Prosperity Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels. The invitation for bids (IFB), issued under reference MNR/2024/ICB/MS-01, offers multiple contract options, including individual contracts for oil from each FPSO or a combined contract covering two or all three of the vessels.

Tenders opened on Tuesday at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office in Georgetown.

The names called are: Equinor (Norway), Trafigura Pte Limited (Singapore), Oando Plc (Nigeria), Mercuria Energy Trading SA (Switzerland), BP Oil International Limited (UK), BK Holdings Limited (UK), ExxonMobil Sales & Supplies LLC (US), Petraco Oil Company Limited (Guernsey), Shell Western Supply and Trading Limited (The Bahamas), ADNOC Trading Limited (United Arab Emirates), TotalEnergies Trading SA (Switzerland), Chevron Products Company (US), BB Energy Trading Limited (London), Cathay Petroleum International Limited (Hong Kong), Apioil UK Limited, Gunvor SA (Switzerland), Glencore Energy UK Limited (England), Vitol SA (Switzerland), SOCAR Trading SA (Switzerland), Springfield Energy Limited (Switzerland), Bono Energy Limited (Nigeria), CNOOC Trading (Singapore) Pte. Limited (Singapore), ENI Trading & Shipping Inc. (US), PetroChina International (America) Inc. (US), JE Energy Limited (London), UNITEC America Inc. (US), and Sispro Inc. (Guyana).

Notably, the successful bidders will be responsible for marketing Guyana’s share of oil from these key projects in the Stabroek Block, one of the most prolific offshore oil discoveries in recent years.

This publication had reported that this tender marks a crucial opportunity for international and local companies to play a key role in marketing Guyana’s rapidly expanding oil output. The country, which began producing oil in 2019, has quickly become a significant player in the global energy market, with several large discoveries that are expected to propel its oil production into the millions of barrels per day by the end of the decade.
