Since returning to office in August 2020, the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) government has overseen the construction of 4,322km (2685 miles) of road.
This was revealed by the Public Works Minister, Juan Edghill during his Budget 2025 presentation in the National Assembly today.
He added that during that same period, 150 bridges were rehabilitated while 66 bridges were maintained.
The minister also disclosed that from 2020 to 2024, 25,783km (16,020 miles) of sea and river defence structures were constructed, while 328,751km were maintained
From 2020 to 2024, 11 Hinterland airstrips were also completed, he said.
The minister also noted that the following projects will be continued after Budget 2025 is passed:
- The completion of the Road from Ogle to Eccles and its continuation to Diamond
- The extension of Conversation Tree to Francois Avenue
- The development of the road from Diamond to Land of Canaan
- The road from Schoonard to Parika
- The upgrading of the Linden-Soesdyke Highway, including 2900 street lights.
