Kevin Cadogan, 34, who was admitted to the ICU, succumbed to his injuries at about 03:30hrs on Saturday at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Cadogan was admitted with burn injuries along with his partner, now-deceased, Mezona Ronaldo, 20.
On Friday, at about 01:30hrs Patricia Williams, 55, of Adventure, Linden Soesdyke Highway reported that at about 00:30hrs she was at home asleep when she was awoken by shouts of help from her son, Cadogan, a Labourer of Moblissa, Linden Highway who was in company with his reputed wife, Ronaldo, with burns about their bodies.
She claimed to have questioned them and they both alleged that Mezona was cooking in the kitchen and the gas bottle caught afire and he (Kevin) went and held unto (Mezona) to put the fire out.
Patricia Williams further claimed that she got a taxi and took them both to the Mackenzie Hospital, where they were both seen and medically examined by a doctor who referred them to the GPHC for further medical attention.
They were both placed in an ambulance and escorted to the GPHC where Mezona Ronaldo succumbed while receiving medical attention, and Kevin admitted.
Ronaldo’s relatives have come forward; disputing Cadogan’s mother’s story. The young woman’s father claims that Ronaldo was subjected to months of abuse at the hands of her reputed husband.
Investigations are ongoing.
