An expectant teen father was this morning released on self bail after being charged with stabbing his pregnant 16 year old girlfriend to the head.
The 17-year-old boy is accused of wounding his 16-year-old girlfriend, who is six months pregnant with his child.
The teenager appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh, who is sitting at the Children’s Court at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The teen pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that, on January 30, 2019 at East Ruimveldt, he wounded his girlfriend.
According to reports, on the day in question, both parties had an argument which caused the 17-year-old to become annoyed.
The teen armed himself with a sharp object and stabbed his girlfriend to the head, causing her to seek medical attention and subsequent hospitalisation.
The matter was then reported, and an investigation was carried out. Hence, the teen was charged for the offence.
The Magistrate, after listening to the facts, released the teenager on his own recognizance (self-bail).
He was instructed to make his next court appearance on February 22, 2019.
