The Ministry of Education has long been on a mission to bridge the gap in education delivery between the Coast and the Hinterland of Guyana and this year continued to demonstrate its seriousness in this regard through a visit to Port Kaituma to determine its preparedness for the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA).
The visit was conducted byAssistant Chief Education Officer (ACEO) – Primary (Ag) Ms. Carol Benn and National Parent Teachers Coordinator, Ms. Nadia Hollingsworth on Monday last. The officials met with teachers and parents of the community.
Specifically, the senior education officials wanted to ascertain whether schools in the community were on the right path in preparation for the 2019 NGSA, which is scheduled for the second week of April.
Moreover, Ms. Hollingsworth and Ms. Benn also met with Grade Six teachers to get an understanding of where NGSA preparations are and what can be done by the Education Ministry to help in this regard.
