President David Granger has invited Leader of the Opposition, Bharrat Jagdeo for consultations on General and Regional Elections on March 6, at 11: 00hrs. This was revealed to the press moments ago via a statement from the Ministry of the Presidency.
In the missive, Minister of State, Joseph Harmon said that Granger and Jagdeo are expected to discuss the National Assembly’s constitutional role in the present situation and GECOM’s readiness and requirement for funding to enable it to conduct General and Regional Elections.
Harmon said that based on the President’s instructions, he wrote to Jagdeo today, noting that the proposed consultation will take place at the Ministry of the Presidency.
