A North West District man who allegedly confessed while in custody to having a quantity of marijuana in his possession was this afternoon charged for the offence.
Rawle Ramsindo, 30, a farmer of Hobo Hill, North West, pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on March 28, 2019 at Hobo Hill, North West District, he had 170 grams of marijuana in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The unrepresented man appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Facts presented by Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield stated that on the day in question, police acting on information went to the defendant’s home and requested to carry out a search.
A quantity of seeds, leaves, and stems suspected to be marijuana were found in transparent plastic bags in the defendant’s bedroom. The court heard that when Ramsindo was taken into custody he admitted in a oral statement to ownership of the illicit drug.
The Magistrate after listening to the facts released him on $200,000 bail. A condition of the bail is that he reports every Friday at the Mabaruma Police Station until the hearing and determination of the trial. The father of two is expected to make his next court appearance on May 21, 2019 at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Courts.
