A nurse and her fiance are now dead after they were flung from the motor cycle they were riding at Amelia’s Ward, Linden around 20:00 hrs last night.
The deceased have been identified as Sheshka Etienne, a nurse at the Linden Hospital and her fiancé, Oneil De Younge.
Guyana Standard was told that the couple was planning on getting married later this year.
According to information received, the young couple was proceeding north along the Ameila’s Ward Public Road on a motorcycle when they collided with a jeep, PSS 8812 that was heading in the opposite direction.
It is unclear if De Younge or the driver of the jeep were intoxicated.
The couple was flung in the air and one of the victims ended up under the jeep. The nurse died on the spot while De Younge was rushed to the Linden Hospital where he later succumbed.
The driver of the vehicle has been arrested.
