The police have arrested two suspects who they believe shot and robbed 26-year-old Selson Prescott on Monday afternoon at Regent Street, Georgetown.
The men were arrested on Tuesday with the help of surveillance cameras in the area. They are currently being grilled at the Brickdam Police Station.
The victim, who is the son of Selwyn Prescott, owner of Pressy Enterprise located on Regent Street, was shot twice in the lower abdomen and he is hospitalized at a private hospital. It is unclear if he was able to identify his shooter.
A hospital source confirmed that the young man underwent surgery for a bullet that was lodged in his abdomen. He is in a stable condition.
The Guyana Standard has been informed that the young Prescott was on his way to his father’s business place after making a withdrawal from the bank when he was confronted by two bandits on a motorcycle. The men discharged two rounds at him before escaping with his brief case, carrying cash.
Investigators suspected that the young man was trailed from the bank. Eyewitnesses in the area said that the two bandits were in the area waiting on the victim for some time. One of the suspects was seen on his phone very often.
Investigation is ongoing.
