Aduke Josiah, 33, of Sophia, was today charged and remanded to prison for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.
Josiah was not required to plead to an indictable charge which stated that on August 8, 2018 he engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.
Facts presented by the Court Prosecutor stated that, on the day in question, the teen was home alone when Josiah forced his way into her room and raped her.
The Prosecutor made serious objections to bail being granted to Josiah, citing the serious nature and prevalence of the offence.
The Prosecutor also cited the penalty the offence attracts and the fact that the victim was 15 when the incident occurred.
The court heard that if Josiah is granted bail there is a likelihood that he will tamper with the victim.
The Magistrate, after listening to the Prosecutor’s facts, remanded Josiah to prison.
He was instructed to make his next court appearance on April 12 for report.
