Opposition Leader, Bharrat Jagdeo, lashed out at the coalition administration earlier today for what he described as the blatant bankrupting of institutions.
His comments in this regard are in wake of revelations by the fact that the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC) recently that it is unable to pay its members of staff due to a lack of funds.
The Opposition Leader said, “This government has been bankrupting institutions. At the Guyana Forestry Commission, they are unable to pay staff due to lack of funds. Now they want to restructure it and they are putting a senior AFC official [Clayton Hall] to lead the restructuring process at a technical agency.”
The former President added, “I suspect there are other motives behind the re-structuring but the staff needs to be paid and they have to stop bleeding the GFC. This government is totally hopeless. Not only this is going to happen but almost everything is going to be bankrupt. They just need a little more time.”
Before the PPP left office, Jagdeo reminded that the Commission was a thriving institution which made contributions to the Treasury.
