Jason Howard, who is no stranger to the courts, was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment after he was found guilty by City Magistrate, Annette Singh, of robbing a fruit vendor back in 2016.

On October 12, 2016, at Church Street, while being armed with a gun, Howard, 24, robbed Bibi Bacchus, of $100,000 cash.

Howard, who is a double murder accused, was handed the sentence this afternoon at the conclusion of a trial in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Courts.

The Magistrate told the court that she believed the evidence of the witnesses called by Police Prosecutor Gillian Simmons.

She added that after going through the evidence, she is of the opinion that a prima facie case was established against Howard, hence she sentenced him to 12 months behind bars.

In 2016, Howard and three others were jointly charged for the murder of Mohamed Munir and his wife Bibi Jamila Munir, a rice farming couple of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo.
